The short answerDigits is AI accounting software with its own ledger, cheaper per month and in your hands. Lopifi is a service that keeps your existing QuickBooks Online or Xero books closed on US GAAP and has a CPA review them, for $200 a month.

| Question | Digits | Lopifi |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | AI-native accounting software. Your accountant is optional and invited by you. digits.com | AI agents categorize, reconcile and close as transactions happen. Anything that needs judgment waits for your sign-off. |
| Ledger | Digits' own general ledger; books are imported or migrated in. Digits for accountants | Your own QuickBooks Online or Xero file, synced both ways. Set up for you if you have none. |
| Price | $65, $100 or $250 a month per business; 30-day free trial. Digits pricing | $200 a month, flat. Planned price; not open yet. |
| Tax returns | Not filed by Digits; a tax package is exported, and tax work comes through partner firms. Digits pricing | Not included. Deadlines are tracked, and a closed year goes to your tax preparer. |
Replace the ledger, or keep it
Moving to a new general ledger is a real decision: history, integrations, your tax preparer's workflow and your investors' data room all point at the old one. A new ledger can be worth that; it is never free.
Lopifi makes the opposite bet. QuickBooks Online and Xero are what CPAs, auditors and tax preparers already open, so we keep them and change who does the work.
When Digits is the better choice
- You need your books kept this month. Lopifi is a waitlist and lets companies in a few at a time.
- You want software to run yourself, or with your own accountant, rather than a service.
- You are happy to leave QuickBooks or Xero for a new, AI-native ledger.
- You want the lowest monthly price: Digits starts at $65.
When Lopifi is the better choice
- You want to stay in the QuickBooks Online or Xero file your CPA and investors already open. Lopifi works inside it and syncs both ways.
- You want the bookkeeping done for you, with a CPA review every quarter, rather than a better tool to do it yourself.
- You want accrual books on US GAAP with a lead schedule behind every balance, closed as transactions happen rather than weeks after month end.
