Qlik is hired to turn company data into dashboards and analysis people can explore. The job is portable at the data layer and sticky at the report layer. Below: Qlik's published plan prices, the open-source tools we verified, and how to rebuild what matters without breaking the numbers people trust.
A dashboard starts as one analyst's answer to a question and becomes the number a manager quotes every Monday. The scripts and models behind it live inside the product, understood by one person.
Nobody wants to explain why the total changed. That fear, more than the license, is what keeps the plan renewing, which is why we compare totals line by line before anyone is switched over.
Only alternatives we have checked. An open-source project is listed with the license its repository reports, on the date shown; one whose license could not be read as a single standard id is not offered as open source. Read the license guide before running any of them.
| Alternative | Kind | License | Read from |

Each feature below is what the product's own page or README says, linked to where we read it on the date shown. Pros and cons are limited to what those pages state and to what the path itself changes. We do not rank products on quality.

List prices as printed on Qlik's page on the checked date, per month, billed annually. Extra users, data capacity and add-ons change the total, and Enterprise is quoted by sales.
The product is only the surface. The cost is in the data models and scripts built inside it, and in the trust people place in its totals. Count what is genuinely used first; most companies find a small fraction of the apps carry the weight.
Apache Superset and Grafana are the open-source tools we verified, with Apache-2.0 and AGPL-3.0 licenses according to their repositories. Superset describes itself as a business intelligence platform; Grafana describes itself as a monitoring and observability platform. Both read from databases you connect rather than loading data into a model the way an analytics product does, so the data must already be queryable. We rate moving this job moderate: a handful of dashboards are quick to rebuild, while a deep library of models and scripts is a project.
Samples are made up and are not Qlik's prices. Type in the figures from your own invoice or order form.
The honest yearly cost of running open-source software yourself, set against the bill it replaces, with the seat count where it stops paying.
Paid seats against seats in use: what the idle ones cost a year, and what you save by right-sizing at renewal.
Arithmetic only, not tax, accounting or legal advice. Check the figures against your own order form.
Count what is used, rebuild that, and compare totals before you switch anyone over.
List every app and dashboard with its owner, audience and last-opened date. Mark the ones nobody has opened this quarter.
Write down where each one gets its data and what each key figure means. This is the part that moves.
Pick the destination and who administers it. Settle who may see which data, particularly any personal data.
Rebuild the one or two most-used dashboards. Compare their totals with the old ones line by line for a full reporting period.
Rebuild the rest in order of use, and move scheduled reports to the new tool, telling recipients before the switch.
Export what you need to keep, then end the plan inside its notice window and confirm in writing.
Run the vendor report for QuickBooks Online or Xero, then open the free audit.

Send us the export and see which lines are worth a second look. A connected version is planned. Qlik is one of the lines worth a look.

“In use” is your call: last sign-in in the past 30 or 90 days from the vendor's admin report. A seat for someone on leave is not idle.
